Cette année, Watches and Wonders a consolidé sa position de salon professionnel et d'événement médiatique incontournable pour l'industrie la plus emblématique de Suisse avec un programme ambitieux d'événements à l'échelle de la ville. Il y a des "animations de boutique", un "rallye horloger", une visite guidée par QR code des points chauds de l'horlogerie avec une chasse au trésor et un concours, des festivités de rue aujourd'hui de 17h à 21h précises (c'est Genève, après tout), y compris la nourriture camions et un DJ électro sur le Quai Général Guisan, le tout culminant avec l'ouverture du salon au public le samedi 1er avril (pas un poisson d'avril… c'est Genève après tout).


Près de 180 marques sont présentes sur le salon et à Genève et dans les environs. L'un des lancements les plus attendus est la marque éponyme de Jean-Claude Biver à faible volume et à haute valeur de production, qui a démarré de manière ambitieuse avec un tourbillon à carillon. Mais la grande marque occasionnelle résiste encore à l'attrait de la grande salle.Bulgariest absente de Palexpo, préférant exposer à l'Hôtel Président Wilson, où elle présente sa nouvelle Octo Roma, (est-elle ronde ? Est-elle octogonale ? C'est un peu les deux) dans des itérations aussi diverses que l'automatique à trois aiguilles et le tourbillon avec affichage des minutes papillon.

grand joaillier-horloger français,Cartier, fait la démonstration de beaucoup de bonnes choses dans le catalogue arrière à présenter à un nouveau public suite au succès de ses relances Panthère et Gordon Gekko-spec Santos. Cette année, la Tank Française de 1996 fait peau neuve avec des changements si subtils qu'il faut être un geek Cartier pour les repérer - par exemple, la couronne de remontage heptagonale qui remplace la précédente octogonale. Les montres pour femmes sont également d'inspiration rétro louable - l'excellente petite baignoire sur un bracelet est si bonne que je la porterais moi-même si elle était légèrement plus grande (j'espère que vous lisez ce Cyrille Vigneron). De même, le Clash [Un]limited (beaucoup plus sympa que le bracelet du même nom) a un côté Jeanne Toussaint, faites-vous plaisir et optez pour celui avec des pierres de couleurs : corail, spinelles noirs, chrysoprase, tsavorites etc. celui que je porterais à la maison est le Tank Normale : une étude parfaite dans un chic discret qui a l'air aussi bien aujourd'hui qu'il y a plus de 100 ans quand il est né.


Autre classique de l'art déco, leJaeger-LeCoultreReverso, revient non pas à ses origines des années 1930 mais à une période plus récente de son histoire, les années 1990, lorsque la manufacture a commencé à montrer la polyvalence du boîtier Reverso en l'équipant de complications, dont l'excellente Reverso Chronographe Rétrograde. Jaeger-LeCoultre affirme que son mouvement, le Calibre 829, "était non seulement le premier mouvement de chronographe de forme dans un boîtier rectangulaire pour Jaeger-LeCoultre, mais aussi le premier chronographe intégré à remontage manuel à être développé à partir de zéro dans l'ère post-quartz". Le calibre 860 amélioré, un nouveau mouvement qui fait ses débuts dans la Reverso Tribute Chronograph, présente un chronographe rétrograde sur le cadran arrière squeletté de la montre.


Un chrono décalé est également au centre de l'attention chezMont blanc, où le penmaker hambourgeois est terriblement enthousiasmé par la Minerve du chronométreur dévoilée au nom surprenant. Il est peut-être basé sur un mouvement vieux de 100 ans, mais l'innovation du XXIe siècle est le système de fonctionnement de la lunette qui démarre, arrête et réinitialise le chrono : Click, Click, Click.
En parlant de chronos, ils ne sont pas plus emblématiques (désolé d'utiliser le cliché, mais c'est vrai) que leRolexDaytona, qui fête cette année ses 60 ans d'une manière typique de Rolex. Le rafraîchissement anniversaire était très attendu, mais il est si subtil que vous devez vraiment apporter votre Daytona actuelle avec vous pour pouvoir apprécier le fait que les index des heures ont une forme légèrement différente et que les modèles nouvellement lancés avec Cerachrom ont une lunette bordée de le boîtier en métal. Mais si vous avez déjà la chance de posséder une Daytona platine, la légendaire « Platona », alors vous pouvez la laisser à la maison. Le jeu de la différence est légèrement plus facile avec le modèle en platine car Rolex n'a jamais fait d'Oyster où vous pouvez voir le mouvement en action auparavant, et, croyez-moi, dans le monde du geekery Rolex, c'est la plus énorme des énormes nouvelles. Une paire de cadrans étonnamment ludiques sur les nouveaux modèles Oyster Perpetual fait également la une des journaux sur la planète Rolex et au-delà : l'un est laqué avec des bulles en rose, turquoise, jaune, rouge et vert ; tandis que le Day-Date a un motif de puzzle tout aussi désinvolte avec des mots comme "Love, Hope, Peace" apparaissant dans la fenêtre du jour et une icône d'accompagnement dans l'affichage de la date. Rolex a fait des cadrans "amusants" à motifs de zèbre et de léopard dans le passé, et une fois par demi-génération, vous devriez vous attendre à ce qu'il fasse quelque chose d'inattendu comme celui-ci.

Un autre avec un 60e anniversaire,Jour, cette annéesemble être en mission pour prouver la polyvalence de Carrera. Il y a deux nouveaux tourbillons Carrera, le TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph 42 mm au style rétro et le TAG Heuer Carrera Plasma Diamant d'Avant-Garde Chronograph Tourbillon 44 mm au nom élogieux (ne vous inquiétez pas, avec quelques heures de pratique, il s'éloigne du langue), qui est un développement intrigant de l'obsession du PDG Frédéric Arnault pour les diamants de laboratoire. Non seulement ils étouffent le cadran comme dans le Carrera Plasma de l'année dernière, mais maintenant ils sont saupoudrés comme des centaines et des milliers sur la lunette, le boîtier et le bracelet. Un des premiers candidats au prix Audacity du Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève de cette année.


Hermès, aussi, appuie sur le bouton audacieux, en mettant des bracelets en caoutchouc orange, bleu, jaune et vert sur une nouvelle version de son HO8 fabriqué à partir d'un matériau qu'il appelle simplement "Composite". Hermès Composite est composé de fibres de verre tressées et aluminisées, et de poudre d'ardoise. Il coche toutes les cases habituelles des "nouveaux matériaux" - légers, robustes et tout ça - et, étant Hermès, il y a une importance esthétique attachée à la poudre d'ardoise, qui confère un argent subtil qui contraste avec la lunette en céramique noire.




Chopard, quant à lui, fait l'actualité avec sa façon d'utiliser, ou plutôt de réutiliser, des matériaux classiques avec beaucoup de bruit autour d'un acier équivalent à son or éthique si actuel. Son acier Lucent existant, utilisé pour l'excellente montre de sport Alpine Eagle, est déjà composé à 70 % d'acier recyclé. D'ici la fin de cette année, cette proportion passera à 80 %, avec 90 % d'ici 2025. De plus, elle utilisera de l'acier recyclé dans toute sa production. Apparemment, la marque est également devenue la première Maison de luxe à rejoindre SteelZero, une organisation dédiée à accélérer la transition de l'industrie sidérurgique vers le net zéro. Une étape de plus dans le voyage de Chopard vers le luxe durable.

Avec des voyages d'un autre genre à l'esprit,Zénithtient à rappeler à tous qu'elle est la seule marque autorisée à utiliser le mot "pilot" sur le cadran, et cette année, elle sort une toute nouvelle collection Pilot avec le mot très important de cinq lettres apparaissant sur le cadran juste au-dessus six heures. C'est fini avec l'ancien prédécesseur de style vintage, au look Blériot et avec un design ciblé qui, pour citer le matériel de presse, "s'inspire de toute l'étendue de l'aviation - passée et présente". Malgré toute l'ambition (considérant que l'on peut dire que l'histoire de l'aviation a commencé avec Daedalus et Icare), le résultat est étonnamment homogène et portable.
Pour être juste, cependant, je ne vois pas trop de preuves que les gens sont perplexes pour des idées de cadran. Il y a le retour de la Californie àPanerai; succulent saumon sur acier Alpine Eagle chez Chopard ; et de nouvelles pierres dures à gogo chez Piaget dans ce que j'appelle officieusement son boîtier étagé "Warhol".




Entre-temps,patek philippedonne une classe de maître sur la façon dont la conception intelligente du cadran peut transformer sa Calatrava 6007A classique. L'utilisation habile d'accents jaunes dans les pistes des minutes et des secondes, ainsi que l'ajout d'une trotteuse à balayage jaune et d'un damier astucieux de style fibre de carbone au centre du cadran démontrent que le classique à trois aiguilles de Patek Philippe peut être aussi sportif que vous aimez : parfait avec un denim ou un smoking contemporain.
